T. Woods says his pain is behind him. I believe it’s back there, all right, chasing him.
He’s playing in this weekend’s Hero World Challenge in the Bahamas, and the field is strong. Woods will be paired the first day with Justin Thomas, just one of the guns in the sun looking, even now, to shoot him down.
And maybe it’s true he’s pain-free. Tiger lives in the golden age of orthopedics, and the spinal fusion he had in April has him swinging freely, by most accounts. They don’t do back surgeries like they used to.
Senate Republicans, on the other hand, are trying a more makeshift procedure this week, whereby a senator attaches a steel pole down the middle of his back with duct tape to make it appear he has a spine. The results are temporary, at best, and not to be trusted.
