Hudson Swafford looks like the guy his Georgia frat brothers trusted on Friday nights to go get the keg and bite off the bung, first to tap it and last to pass out. Now, after winning the CareerBuilder Challenge last weekend, he can afford to send somebody else out for Krug Clos d’Ambonnay, though he would reserve the right, we imagine, to bite off the cork himself.
Swafford is in the field for this weekend’s Farmers at Torrey Pines, but he has a bigger date circled in Bulldog red on his personal global golf calendar: April 6, at Augusta National, on back there in Georgia.
Adam Hadwin, who signed for a third-round 59 before losing to Swafford by a stroke on Sunday, is also in the field in San Diego.
Tiger Woods is not in the field at Torrey Pines — hang on, let me check that, consult with the crack Grey Goatee Research Cluster. “Dude, he’s playing,” says the bureau chief, opening one eye long enough to glare at me. Correction: Tiger Woods is not in the field at Torrey Pines. You read it here, maybe not exactly first.
